LIFE STORIES
NARA
A mission team discovered Nara as an 8-year-old in a mountain village of the Lahu. She followed the team at every turn and was extremely helpful. It turned out that Nara's mother had died and Nara lived with her grandparents. The grandfather had TB and Nara was out in the fields all day looking for food. So Nara came to us at Haus Bethanien without a birth certificate or papers. She always had a big heart for others and helped to dress the younger girls for school. Nara also sat at the bedside with sick people and cared for them. So it came as no surprise for us that she wanted to stay with us as a staff member after she had completed her education. For 14 years we went year after year to the office responsible for Nara's village to get Nara's papers. Each time it took us at least 16-18 hours. In 2015, the time had come and Nara was holding her ID card (identity card) in her hands. She still looks after the little ones in our homes. Her salary is supported by Doulos christliche Dienste e.V.
CHOM
Chom came to Bethany Homes when he was 12 years old. His parents and two siblings died in a road accident while Chom was at school. After successfully completing a comprehensive school and a vocational school, he trained as a mechatronics engineer and was taken on as a journeyman by the car dealership. Meanwhile, he works at a technical test centre (similar to the TÜV) and carries out car safety checks there. Three years ago, Chom was able to pay for Bethany Home's Christmas party with his own salary. He and Nud have been married for two years, and drop by every now and then to spend time with the children and staff.
We are grateful to the supporters of DOULOS christliche Dienste e.V. for supporting Chom over many years so that he can now stand on his own two feet.
MIRIAM UND PHANI
Our daughter Miriam & Phani, when they were both four years old and at the age of 18.
Both girls have successfully completed their training in media design. Phani lives in Chiang Mai and works for an advertising company. In her spare time she helps in a Christian community and is committed to the concerns of the Hmong Christians in South East Asia. Miriam works in her profession and also runs an online shop. Both are happy and thankful for the time they could spend at Haus Bethanien. Phani thanks again for the many years of support. Miriam and we, family Brellenthin, would also like to take this opportunity to thank our circle of friends and supporters.
KHIAW
Khiaw came to us as a 5-year-old after both parents had died of an illness. He was always very eager at school and successfully passed his school-leaving examination. His supporters prayed a lot for him and enabled him to attend English courses and further education. He played various instruments in services of the Christian community. A few years ago he moved to Bangkok to prepare for spiritual service in a bible school. He is currently doing an internship as a church helper and has already preached several times in different churches. When he visits the children's home, he also likes to hold devotions and lead worship.
JING KOO
Jing Koo came to Bethany Homes as an 8-year-old girl. Early on it turned out that she was very eager to go to school and always brought home good grades. She then completed the comprehensive school as the best student in the school. Even during her school years she often played a leading role in the design and creation of greeting cards and handicrafts. Supporters like you have made it possible for us to send Jing Koo to a secondary school in order to complete an education in art & design. Today, Jing Koo is a staff member at Bethany Homes and lovingly cares for the children entrusted to her care. She has already created many a "work of art" with the children.
